A rare book, the only one to concentrate on the subject of Chinese market watches.
Original deckle-edged paper boards, 272 pages, French text, approx 239 black and white figs + 33 plates some of which are in colour. Attinger Freres, Neuchatel, circa 1919.
A fine and exhaustive work by Alfred Chapuis, compiled with the help of Gustav Loup, and rarely found, especially in its original paper covers. Absolutely invaluable to anyone with an interest in these gold and enamel Chinese market watches, the best of which now regularly achieve six-figure+ prices at auction.
Some of the expected wear to the covers and spine, the covers with creased corners. Otherwise a rare book, the contents in good clean condition, and far nicer than the 1983 reprint which itself now brings prices higher than I am asking for this original.
