ZIMMERMAN, Karl. Liverpool, No 15800. A large, top quality 23 jewel, free-sprung, English keyless watch with American-style lever hand setting.
Plain gold openface case hallmarked Chester 1894, casemaker JE (James Eastham, Liverpool). Reverse fusee movement jewelled to the fusee, the fusse jewel being particularly impressive. Double-roller lever escapement. Perfect signed, 3-piece enamel dial, blued-steel hands. 54 mm diameter.
Karl Zimmerman, chronometer maker and supplier of frames and trains to Victor Kullberg, also supplied watches for the American market, some of which were entered at the Yale Observatory Trials in 1884. These were adjusted for the trials by H Heinrich of New York who was Zimmerman's agent in America. A very fine, Liverpool finished watch (as good as anything done in London at this time) and almost as new. I have not seen better. Cleaned
