More details

Pink gold case with engraved bezel and band, case maker PS (Peter Strömqvist). Fullplate fusee movement of typical design for this maker, with a balance-bridge pierced with initials. Verge (recoil) escapement, the potence with Swiss-style adjustment for drops. Brass balance, spiral balance-spring. Beautiful signed enamel dial, gold hands. 57 mm diameter.

Jacob Kock, Stockholm (1737-1805), watchmaker to King Gustav III who was ruler from 1771 until his death in 1792. Watches are known with the initials 'JK' within the cock, but this example has a 'G reversed G under a crown' cypher, which points to its being made for, or ordered by, King Gustav.

In lovely original condition, the almost perfect dial having just a few scratches but no chips or cracks around the winding hole - I doubt a better or more original example exists. Cleaned for its previous owner and appearing to work well, but can be freshly serviced if required.
