Fine French minute repeater with ruby cylinder escapement, circa 1810.
Large gold barrel-edge case with pendant lock at I, casemaker DR in a diamond, with typical Lepine/Breguet-style gilt metal cuvette, full signed and numbered. Half-plate movement with hanging barrel, the repeat work mounted on the top plate, allowing it to be fully seen when functioning. Ruby cylinder escapement, in the English style, with steel escape. Plain brass balance with Breguet-style compensation-curb mounted on the index, spiral balance-spring. Engine-turned silver dial, blued-steel hands. 56 mm diameter.
J Hunziker / Huntziker, recorded as working 1804-1830 in Tardy. NB: French minute repeaters are not common at this relatively early date.
A fine Breguet-style minute repeater in very good original condition, case, dial and movement. Cleaned for its previous owner and appears to be working well, but can be freshly serviced if wanted.
