Watch form bon-bon box

Rare form of porcelain box in the shape of a large pocket watch, circa 1840.

More details

Gilt-metal watch-type frame and pendant with hand decorated porcelain covers inside and out - the back cover plain, the front cover with faux dial and hands. 80 mm diameter.

No marks but I presume Swiss/French made, and looking to date from the first half of the 19th century.

A rare and amusing object (I can't remember seeing another) in good un-cracked condition, the gilding on the porcelain with some wear, and just a few light scratches showing it has been used.
