Good Patent slow-beat lever movement, circa 1860.
Fullplate fusee movement, the 16-size frame stamped WB (William Brown, Prescot), the cap stamped 'T' and numbered 15329, as is the movement under the dial, along with the stamp 'Q' (Quilliam). 1/3rd seconds beating single-roller detached lever escapement. Gold balance, spiral balance-spring. Signed cream enamel dial. 45 mm diameter, 10.5 mm deep, not including centre arbor.
Thomas William Yates, 12 Friargate, Preston, PATENT No 11443, November 1846. Altering the gearing of the escapement in order to give slower beating watches. Most if not all examples were made and supplied to Yates by Samuel Quilliam, a Liverpool based watchmaker.
Dial chipped and lacking hands, otherwise complete and unbroken. Not cleaned by me but will tick when wound.
