Good repeating movement by this interesting French maker, circa 1800.

More details

Fullplate fusee movement with nicely pierced balance-bridge set with a steel coquerette, now lacking it endstone jewel. Verge escapement, with adjustable counter-potence as well as the usual one for the drops. Steel balance, spiral balance-spring. Convex enamel dial held with the usual single screw, and with gilded collet at the hole for winding. 34 mm diameter, 14 mm deep, not including centre arbor.

Probably Jean Gregson, rue Dauphine, Paris, watchmaker to the French King, Louis XVI.

Dial with hair cracks and small chips, lacking hands, and all rather dirty. Otherwise looks to be complete and unbroken, but does not want to tick or repeat in its present condition. Sold as not working.
