More details

Nicely detailed silver paircase hallmarked London 1774, casemaker EH under fleur-de-lis (Edlin Howard, Little New St, near Fleet St, London), the outer with a Hitchin watchpaper. Fullplate fusee movement with nicely pierced and engraved clock and slide-plate. Verge (recoil) escapement. Steel balance, spiral balance-spring. Lovely 'Roman & Arabic' convex enamel dial signed and dated, the date in a way I have not seen before, original blued-steel beetle & poker hands. 60 mm diameter.

Thomas Goodman, Hitchin, Hertfordshire, no doubt the proud owner in 1775 of a watch bearing his name and probably a date of some significance.

A few scratches to the dial and other minor signs of use, otherwise in fine original condition, and of a size that is both very pleasing in the hand and good to look at, though difficult to wear. Serviced and guaranteed.
