Great Exhibition Patent/Brevette alarm.
Brass drum-shaped Patent alarm with up to 12 hour timer, the back cover used to wind the mechanism and stamped BREVETTE and IMPORTED AND SOLD BY W. S. ADAMS, 57 HAYMARKET, LONDON and numbered 43229 over W. 2 1/5 inches (6.5 cm) diameter. Complete with its original cardboard box, the lid and inside with text and images relating to the medals awarded to the makers in France in 1748, and England in 1851.
