Forged steel with PS STUBS stamp, brass ferule and mahogany handle, the vice also stamped 22, identifying the particular Stub's outworker.

Peter Stubs (1756-1806), the greatest name in English tool suppliers, their tools being recognised as being of the very best quality and were purchased worldwide. See the book by E Surrey Dane, Peter Stubs and the Lancashire Hand Tool Industry.

In good condition, with light surface rusting. Similar to that shown in Peter Stubs earliest Tool Catalogue, item 182D (see Crom page 187), but with handle. 7.5 inches (19.5 cm) in length.
