More details

Good small keyless lever movement, circa 1890. Three-quarter plate going-barrel movement (hunter set) with rocking-bar keyless work, with cap jewels on balance and escape. Single-roller detached lever escapement. Compensation balance, balance-spring with overcoil. The firm of Charles Frodsham (1810-1871), then at 84 Strand, London, the most famous of the Frodsham family of clock and watch makers, and founder of the firm that continues to today. For more information see the book on the various Frodsham firms by Vaudrey Mercer, copies of which I try always to have for sale on my website.

Lacking hands and rather dirty. Otherwise a fine and unusually small Frodsham movement in good original condition, with a lovely dial, and small enough to case as a wristwatch. Not cleaned by me and tries to tick when wound, but sold as not working.
