English mid-18th century quarter-repeating verge movement.
Capped fullplate fusee movement, lacking its balance cock, the plunge quarter-repeating work of typical English design, the main alternative to Stogdon's pattern at this period. Verge (recoil) escapement. Brass balance lacking its spring. No brass-edge, dial, hands or minute wheel. 31 mm diameter.
George Winrowe, a name previously unrecorded but possibly associated with William Winrowe who was made Free of the Clockmakers' Company in 1718.
An interesting and well made movement that could be restored or used as parts. Incomplete and not working.
