Brass frame, faceplate and dogs, the frame stamped HASWELL, LONDON - see pic. With original tool rest and brass handwheel with ebonised handle. Length 13 inches (33 cm).

Robert Haswell 'watch tool warehouse' 49 Spencer St, Clerkenwell, recorded in business from 1858 to 1880, trading earlier as Archibald and Robert Haswell. A slightly later example with universal slide (they were an option), shown in Crom Horological Shop Tools page 529.

In very good unpolished condition, the pump centre complete and working, though rather stiff, with some light surface corrosion and some of the knurling damaged by the careless application of a wrench or pliers. Good examples, such as this, now getting difficult to find.
