Rare 18th century sepia coloured engraving.
Showing an angel holding a sundial on his shoulder. Drawn by M Rysbrack, engraved by J Basire and published 1768. Plate size 31 x 23.5 cm, with margins of around 1 cm.
John Michael Rysbrack (1694-1770), Flemish born sculptor and designer, one of the principle workmen employed in England in the 18th century, with no less than sixteen monuments in Westminster Abbey - I am not sure if this design was ever sculpted.
James Basire (1730-1802), engraver to the Society of Antiquaries, the most famous of a family of engravers and master to the young William Blake. His work is in most major museums.
Some minor browning to the edges, otherwise clean and would frame very well.
