Rare large 19th century engraving.
Engraved by Ch Aug Schuler in 1852 after a drawing done in 1846, a few years after Schwilgué completed the 3rd and last of the great monumental clocks to have been built for Strasbourg Cathedral. Engraving without name title, not noted (I think) in this state. Overall size 37 x 28 cm.
Johann Baptiste Schwilgué (1776-1854), clockmaker and patentee with his son in 1844 of a key-driven calculating machine, one of the earliest known.
Some spotting and browning to the edges, otherwise a good impression of this clockmaker with generous margins.
