More details

Blue cloth boards, 146 pages, 32 photographic plates, 85 illustrations + contents + errata. French text. Editions Tardy, Paris, 1940.

Written with the help of Roger Lallier and L Reverchon, with good black and white images of Leroy's important chronometer now held at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers in Paris. It also includes images, quite rightly in my opinion, of the early, circa 1730, drum cased instrument by George Graham, ex Ilbert, and now hidden away in the British Museum Horological Students Room. Despite obvious later changes, it really does deserve to be better known. Read in conjunction with Gould, the two books together provide a much richer and rounder overview of the subject.

Re-backed spine, nicely done, retaining the original boards, otherwise a good copy of this rare wartime publication at a very good price - do check the prices for similar offered elsewhere.
