Good keyless movement with unusual form of double-roller escapement, circa 1890
Three-quarter plate going-barrel keyless movement with rocking-bar keyless work, with cap jewels on balance (diamond), lever and escape. Well finished double-roller detached lever escapement of uncommon form, as is the compensation balance - see pics. Blued-steel balance-spring with overcoil. Perfect signed enamel dial. 46 mm diameter, 8 mm deep, not including centre arbor.
Thomas Dixon, 25 London Street, Norwich, Norfolk, retailer - see the book by Clifford & Yvonne Bird.
Lacking hands, otherwise in good original condition. Note also the unusual rocking-bar keyless work, of which a past restorer has left a scratched message for those in the future concerning the wheel attached to the barrel arbor: LEFT HAND THREAD. Will tick happily if wound.
