Good quarter repeating movement with gold dial, circa 1815.
Fullplate fusee movement with nicely engraved cock and index on the cock table, the repeat work under the dial, with cap jewels on balance (diamond) and escape. Duplex escapement retaining the ruby roller, now so often missing or replaced with steel. Flat steel balance, spiral balance-spring (straightened since the picture was taken). Solid 18ct gold engine-turned dial. 42 mm diameter, 14 mm deep, not including centre arbor.
David and William Morice, 11 Fenchurch Street, London, watch and chronometer makers of some repute.
Lacking hands and all rather dirty, otherwise in complete and original condition. Not cleaned by me but will tick and repeat correctly when wound -- the dial alone scraps for around £100.
