The best biography of this most interesting character.
Lord Grimthorpe 1816-1905. Boards, dust jacket, 230 pages, 11 plates. John Murray, First and only edition, 1957.
Edward Beckett Denison, later Sir Edmund Beckett, later still Lord Grimthorpe. Love him or loathe him, his work in getting the best movement possible for the new clock at Westminster, plus the bell known as 'Big Ben' has to be admired. His belligerent and damaging actions regarding the work of Frederik Dent, and the rewriting of horological history in order to favour himself, much less so.
A good clean copy, the dust jacket in better condition than usual, the contents clean.
