With an Introduction and Commentary by Alan Smith
Boards, dust jacket, 153 pages, 62 original engraved plates and numerous additional figs. American reprint of the rare original catalogue of circa 1770, Winterthur Museum, 1978.
The original catalogue, issued by John Wyke and Thomas Green of Dale Street, Liverpool, is the earliest known English printed source illustrating the extensive range of tools then available for watch and clock makers. As such, it is of immense importance concerning 18th century horology, and this quality reprint provides additional information by Alan Smith, then head of Prescot Museum. The correct naming of watch and clock parts in Appendix 1 should be made essential reading for every auctioneer and cataloguer.
Dust jacket rather tatty and past owners name on front endpaper, contents as new.
