Good duplex movement with compensation-curb by this famous firm, circa 1815.
Fullplate fusee movement, with cap jewels on balance (diamond) and escape. Duplex escapement retaining the original (ruby) jewelled roller. Flat steel balance with compensation-curb mounted on the index, spiral balance-spring. One-piece enamel dial. 45.5 mm diameter, 13.5 mm deep, not including centre arbor.
Robert Molyneux, famous watch and chronometer maker, one of the first London makers to retail top quality watches with duplex escapement and compensation. NB: Many duplex escapements have lost their original jewelled rollers, being replaced with steel. When sold, all English duplex watches would have had a jewelled roller, so the modern habit of calling them a 'ruby duplex' is quite inappropriate.
Hands lacking and edge chip with hair crack to dial, otherwise in very good original condition. Not cleaned by me but will tick if wound.
