NB. Few English 8-day pocket chronometers are known most of which are by Margetts. Though in a watch style case, these are too large for wearing as a pocket watch. This example by French is just one of three known English pocket sized chronometers. One, by Parkinson & Frodsham, survives as a recased movement. The other, a Nicole Nielsen item retailed by the firm of Charles Frodsham, is 72 mm diameter, which I regard as too large to be used as a pocket watch. At just over 60 mm, this example, probably supplied by the Pennington firm, can be safely worn.

Slight hair cracks to the dial edges at 3 and 8, otherwise in wonderful original condition looking to have been hardly worn - an exceptional English chronometer. Cleaned, guaranteed and supplied with a properly fitting key.
