Good pocket-to-pocket waistcoat chain, circa 1900.
Solid 18 ct curb link chain with T-bar, dog clip and spring bolt, every link stamped 18, the T-bar and dog clip also stamped DB (probably David Bridge, London). 16 inches (41 cm) in length, weight 40 grams.
David Nicolas Bridge was involved with John George Smith & Co, a short biography of which can be read in John Culme's truly magnificent work The Directory of Gold & Silversmiths...
A close link curb chain, ideal for any good/top quality English keyless watch of standard size - around 50 mm diameter.
Hallmarks showing some signs of wear, but the chain and its links still in fine strong and safe condition, and the best of English chain designs to my eye.
