Interesting Liverpool supplied movement with duplex escapement, circa 1840.
Lancashire fullplate fusee movement engraved for its Canadian retailer, the 22-size frame stamped IW. Duplex (frictional rest) escapement. 'Fancy' brass and steel non-compensating balance, spiral balance-spring. Pillar-plate 48 mm diameter.
Few duplex watches are known to have been finished in Liverpool, even less are those few retailed in Canada.
Lacking cap, dial, brass-edge, and the original jewelled roller replaced with steel. Not cleaned by me and will just about run when wound, though not very well.
