Good slim keyless watch in lovely Thoms case.

Gold half-hunter case with blue enamel chapter on the cover hallmarked London 1913, casemaker FT (Fred Thoms, Clerkenwell). Three-quarter plate keyless going-barrel movement, jewelled to the 3rd with cap jewels on balance (diamond) lever and escape. Single-roller detached lever escapement. Compensation balance, spiral balance-spring. Numbered enamel dial, as usual with this firm, in prefect condition, original blued-steel hands. 48 mm diameter and weighing just under 100 grams, gross.

The Army & Navy Stores, 105 Victoria Street, London, set up in 1871 to supply officers in the armed forces working for the British Empire, retailers of good quality pocket watches of which this hunting cased example is typical, being both practical and well made.


Frederick Thoms, rightly considered as the finest watch case maker of his day.


A past owner has lightly scratched their initials on the movement, otherwise almost as new, the case with no previous engraving, and an ideal size and weight for wearing. Serviced and guaranteed.
