Late Georgian cylinder watch, in fine original condition.
Silver pair case hallmarked London 1806, casemaker DW (probably Daniel Walker, Clerkenwell), the outer with contemporary watchpaper. Capped fullplate fusee movement with nicely engraved cock, the 'half cap' used to show off the engraving and good sized diamond endstone. Cylinder (deadbeat) escapement with 13-tooth brass escape. Steel balance, spiral balance-spring. Cream convex-edged enamel dial in perfect condition, fancy gold hands. 56 mm diameter.
Thomas Moss, 24 Ludgate Street, watch and clock maker, free of the Clockmaker's Company in 1786, dying in 1827.
Hour hand with slight loss (this could be restored), otherwise in fine original condition, and fitted with an old bullseye glass which could be the original, so I have left it. Serviced for its previous owner and working correctly, but it can be freshly serviced if wanted - likely cost £150-200.
