Very rare original trade catalogue, circa 1905.
Paper covers, 12 pages, Keyless fusee, complicated, centre-seconds and 'travellers' watches are shown, as well as other watches and a box chronometer. 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches. Printed for Usher & Cole by Marshall, Brookes & Chalkley Ltd, London & Luton. No date, but the title page reproducing medals awarded to the firm in Paris in 1889 and 1900.
Usher & Cole, Clerkenwell, famous London trade watchmakers, mostly suppliers to many retailers throughout the UK but occasionally also selling watches, perhaps their most famous productions being the 'explorers' watches supplied to the Royal Geographical Society via Herbert Blockley. NB. The work books of the Usher & Cole firm, formerly in private hands, can now be consulted as part of the Library of the Clockmakers' Company. As far as I know, a copy of this rare catalogue was not part of the gift.
Some minor rusting of the staples and shelf wear to the covers. Otherwise a very rare chance to acquire an original example of this 'unknown' catalogue.
