Half-plate going-barrel movement with raised and engraved barrel, jewelled to the 3rd with cap jewels on balance, lever and escape, the 14-size frame stamped J.P (Joseph Preston). Single-roller detached lever escapement. Top quality compensation balance with quarter-timing nuts, free-sprung balance-spring with double overcoil. Signed enamel dial with railway track minute ring in perfect condition, original blued-steel hands. 43 mm diameter, 9 mm deep, not including centre arbor.
Robert Hosier Halford and sons, Fenchurch St, London, retailers of these distinctive movements that may well have been supplied by Barraud, and who was at this time only retailing this size of watch having a fusee.
