Silver case with fixed dome hallmarked London 1868, casemaker SF (Samuel Freeman, Trafalgar St, Coventry). 7-jewel fullplate fusee movement of patent construction with combined barrel and fusee bar, with hand-setting from the rear. Single-roller detached lever escapement. Gold balance, spiral balance-spring. Enamel dial signed PATENT in perfect condition, gilt hands. 51.5 mm diameter.

Manoah Rhodes & Son, Bradford, Hight Street jewellers and energetic retailers of watches and clocks. Manoah Rhodes, JP, was born in 1810 and apprenticed himself to John Allott, silversmith in Bradford. Married in 1836 he was, by 1875, head of one of the largest gold and silversmiths' businesses in the North of England.


Some wear showing to the light engine-turning on the back cover, a repaired index and a replaced minute hand. Otherwise in very good original condition showing few of the usual signs of use. Serviced for its previous owner and working properly.
