Rare 'Swiss cheese' relic, circa 1900.
Brass pillar-plate only, but indicative of the extensive up-righted and accurate drilling necessary in order to create such complicated calipers. 43.5 mm diameter.
I purchased this from the much missed Beresford Hutchinson and his old paper label describes this is a "clock watch ebauche from the workshops of S Smith, Strand"
A relic only, but most interesting none the less.
