9ct gold Dennison double-back half-hunter case with black enamel chapter on cover, hallmarked Birmingham 1928. Swiss gilded REVUE movement jewelled to the centre (17 jewel). Straight line double-roller detached lever escapement with steel club-tooth escape. Monometallic compensation balance, balance-spring with overcoil and fine adjustment regulator. Signed enamel dial in perfect condition, blued-steel hands. 49.5 mm diameter. Together with original silk and velvet lined Benson box.
James Walter Benson ‘to H M the King,’ London’s biggest and most energetic watchmaking and watch retailing firm of the second half of the 19th and the first half of 20th centuries selling English and Swiss made watches. Cyma/Tavannes were one of Benson's main suppliers of Swiss movements but this watch has a 17 jewel REVUE movement supplied by the firm of Thommen - most Swiss Benson retailed movements are 15- or 16-jewel.
