Good early 'all brass' movement by this famous firm, circa 1800. First series fullplate fusee movement with cap jewels on balance (diamond) and escape, finely engraved cock, with gilt-brass balance, stud and index. Duplex escapement retaining its ruby roller, now so often missing or replaced with steel. Spiral balance spring. Signed one-piece enamel dial. 44.5 mm diameter.
Paul Philip Barraud, founder of the firm, one of the most interesting London retailers of fine and interesting watches, clocks and chronometers throughout the 19th century. NB: This movement is not recorded in the Book or its Supplement on Barraud by Cedric Jagger.
Lacking hands and dial with edge damage and hair cracks. Otherwise complete and in good general condition. Not cleaned by me but will just about tick if wound.
