The English offices of the American Waltham Watch Company imported many Waltham movements for casing and selling here, but only rarely does one come across their most highly finished movements. These can be rightly considered as good a quality as any watch movement then available. Riverside Maximus was the name give by Waltham to their best quality movements, though variations of jeweling do appear within the same grades. NB: This is the last of a small collection of 'Riverside Maximus' wristwatches that I have offered for sale, having been in a private collection for many years. If this makes them seem common - they are not.
The Dennison Watch Case Company, set up in Birmingham, England by the great American entrepreneur Aaron L Dennison, who had much to do with the founding of the American Waltham Watch Company. His watch case company became the biggest and most successful English company of its type supplying top quality wristwatch cases from around 1900 onwards.
